Dr Alan Kaye



Dr. Alan Kaye Shreveport, MD, Ph.D., has been the Professor and Chairman of the Department of Anaesthesiology at LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans since January 2005. He also earned his Ph.D. in pharmacology.

Dr. Alan Kaye Shreveport, MD, Ph.D. , is the Professor and Chairman of the Department of Anaesthesiology at LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans since January 2005. He also earned his Ph.D. in pharmacology from the Tulane School of Medicine and an internal medicine residency at the Alton Ochsner Medical Foundation and Clinic in New Orleans. After that, he decided to become an anesthesiologist so he took an anesthesia residency at Massachusetts General Hospital and served as the chief anesthesia. He is a Professor within the Department of Anaesthesiology at LSU Health Shreveport and also serves as a Professor within the Department of Pharmacology, Toxicology, and Neurosciences. He is the Provost, Chief Academic Officer, and Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs at LSU Health Shreveport. Before his arrival in Nov 2019, Dr. Kaye served for 15 years as Professor, Program Director, and Chairman of the Department of Anaesthesiology at LSU Health in New Orleans. He is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Pain Medicine and the American Board of Interventional Pain Physicians. He received two BS degrees and an MD degree from the University of Arizona. He was a national finalist for a Rhodes scholarship, Honors Student of the Year, Who' Who, Phi Beta Kappa, and the Outstanding Graduating Senior in his class. Dr. Kaye completed his Ph.D. in pharmacology in May 1997. His thesis title was Pharmacology of Agnomens in Peptides and No Peptide Agonists in the Pulmonary Vascular Bed of the Cat and the Rat
