Chapter 13 Bankruptcy: certain debts can be discharged in a chapter 13 that cannot be discharged in a chapter 7. Filing & bankruptcy allows you to stop a foreclosure and in a Ch.13 you can include delinquent mortgage payments, and pay these back payments for an extended period of time. You have the right to stop a foreclosure proceeding and cure mortgage arrearages over a reasonable period of time.
