Brae Restaurant & Accommodation - Birregurra

Brae Restaurant - Birregurra - All things foodie & gardening from Harvest Birregurra B&B - stylish contemporary accommodation close to Dan Hunter's Brae Restaurant & the Great Ocean Road.

Our ethos is sustainability and relaxation. We produce and harvest our own fresh fruit and veges, we generate much of our electricity and we have retrofitted our house to be as energy efficient as possible.

To relax, you can lounge on the front porch with a glass of wine or a coffee and watch the world go by. We have a set of golf clubs you can borrow to play a round of 9 holes across the road at Birregurra Golf Club (A$10 per day).

THE ROOMS

We have two beautiful rooms, newly renovated and appointed with a small but smart bathroom ensuite. The beds are queen size and are fitted with high quality cotton linen and oversized doonas.

At winter we fit electric blankets - perfect for those cold nights. Each room has a flat screen LED TV, a desk and hanging space for your clothes. They also both have a wonderful skylight that lights up the room during the day and showcases stars at night. Panel heaters are in the room to keep you warm in winter and for summer there is a fan. We don't have airconditioning - you won't need it. That's the benefit of having a well insulated energy efficient home.

GUEST AREAS

The B&B also has a guest lounge and breakfast room with a kitchenette where you can help youselves to tea and coffee and store some food if you are staying a while. There is a microwave, a bbq and access to basics such as salt, pepper and oil.

Outside, you can sit and enjoy your meal under the pergola out the back or on the front porch. There are many other areas in the garden to sit, relax and while away a few hours with a good book.

THINGS TO DO AND SEE IN THE AREA

We are 30 minutes drive from Lorne, the start of the Great Ocean Road. The trip takes you to the coast through The Otways. From there you can travel along the great ocean road taking in the sights and dropping in to coastal towns along the way.

One great day trip is down to Lorne for coffee and a brisk walk along the beach, head along the coast and stop for lunch at Wye River General Store (the best pastries), travel another 20 mins along the coast and stop in Apollo Bay for a swim and a glass of beer at the pub, and at the end of the day, head back inland to Birregurra via Forrest and go for walk to Lake Elizabeth before making one final stop at Forrest Brewery to have a boutique brew and stock up on some bottles of locally made beer to enjoy on our front porch.

Your options are endless. Close by is Sunnybrae Restaurant - a fine dining experience without the fine dining price. It is located on a 10 acre farm and offers a set menu on Saturdays and Sundays only - $75 for 5 courses - much grown in the kitchen garden on the restaurant farm. It is very popular and bookings are a must.
