ISOI International School of Islamabad

International School of Islamabad is an international school in Islamabad, Pakistan, serving K-12. Established in 1965, it moved to its present site in Islamabad in 1975. Previously it was located in Rawalpindi.

ISOI is very proud to be an IB World School, offering the IB Diploma Programme, which is recognized as one of the most distinctive college-preparatory programs worldwide. Well-established as the hallmark of a rigorous, inquiry-based instructional curriculum throughout Europe and North America, the IBDP is recognized by educational authorities throughout the world.

ISOI is a PYP Candidate School, offering the Primary Years Programme. The School anticipates applying for authorization in the fall of the 2017-18 School Year.

ISOI was the first international school accredited by Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools through the Accreditation for Growth protocol, as well as the first international school re-accredited under this protocol. Our community is committed to following a Strategic Plan. Strategic planning is a collaborative process through which the entire school community defines our core beliefs, determines our shared vision, and creates the Plan to achieve that vision. Our school is completing its third Strategic Planning cycle. The Planning Team of 19 parents, students, teachers, support staff, alumni, board members and administrators has strengthened and refined our existing vision to create an exciting and rigorous plan to guide ISOI.

Our vision is that each student will:

· Demonstrate academic growth to reach his / her potential.
· Enthusiastically make positive contributions to the community.
· Exhibit intellectual curiosity that inspires excitement about learning.

The School began its fourth Strategic Plan in the 2017-18 School Year.

Mission & Beliefs

ISOI is a private, coeducational, college-preparatory day school.  It offers an international curriculum to students of over 28 nationalities representing 16 Diplomatic Missions. The school operates on a semester system and is accredited by Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.

In 1995 - 96 the ISOI Board of Directors committed the school to actively pursue a program of excellence through Strategic Planning consensus using the model developed by Cambridge Group Inc - "A Strategic Plan." Subsequent Strategic Plans have used the Transformation Systems, Ltd. model.

International Baccalaureate Diploma Program

Some of the key features of the Diploma Program are:

  • It is a two year program. Examinations are completed in May of year two.
  • It is a recognized, international curriculum.
  • It emphasizes breadth of learning by requiring students to explore a wide variety of disciplines.
  • It allows students to “specialize” in high interest courses.
  • Student achievement is externally-assessed.
  • Students are expected to balance the academic program with other pursuits in the areas of creativity, activity and service. (CAS)
  • The extended essay and Theory of Knowledge requirements better prepare students for, respectively, independent learning and developing deep understanding of how knowledge is created.

Students wishing to pursue the IB Diploma are encouraged to join the ISOI community as early as possible, ideally prior to grade 9. Students coming from other international schools and MYP schools will find the transition very smooth.  Additionally, it is often possible to transfer from another IB school partway through the program; this is best achieved with careful pre- planning.
