Dr. Joe Hines Martin was born and raised in Ripley, Mississippi. He grew up on a cattle farm where he found his true passion for animals and Veterinary Medicine. Following in his father’s footsteps, he has been a Veterinarian for over thirty-five years. Dr. Martin graduated from Mississippi State University in 1979 with a BS in Animal Science. From there, he decided to continue his education at Mississippi State University where he received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1981. Through his experience in small and large animal medicine, Dr. Martin consults his clients on the best medicine for their pets. He also offers specialty services such as orthopedic, gastrointestinal, dental, and ophthalmology procedures.
Dr. Martin has owned and operated his own animal hospital and private practice for 18 years. In the winter of 2016, he decided to become the owner of the Fort Oglethorpe Pet Wellness Center. He looks forward to serving his community but is most grateful to continue fulfilling his dream of taking care of his clients and their pets.

As you can see in the radiographs, a patient had sustained a very serious break in the femur, resulting in recommended amputation by other veterinarians. Dr. Martin was able to avoid amputation by performing a delicate yet intricate corrective surgery in which the bone was pinned together and able to heal correctly.
