Gurdwara Punja Sahib,Hassan Abdal



Gurdwara Punja Sahib is located in hassan abdal nearby 45 Km of rawalpindi.known due to Guru Nanak Sahib Ji's miracle of their hands print.Every year sikhs from all over the world come gurdwara to visit and perform their holy Rituals.

During summer Guru Nanak Dev ji and bhai Mardana ji travels to hassanabdal and stayed,their follower gathered them on hearing to their recitation of kritan( Adoration expressed in song is considered by Sikhs to be the highest form of devotion) ,this interrupted local saint,Wali Qandhari who was mediating at nearby hill.

Guru Nanak Ji sent Bhai Mardana to Shah Wali Qandhari to provide him some water to slake his thirst.but Wali Qandhari treated him roughly and refused to take water. Mardana was still stucked to his demand. The Wali asked unpleasently " Why don't you ask your Master ? ".Mardana came back in wretched state and said "Oh lord! I prefer death to thirst but will not approach the selfish Wali.".The Guru replied "O Bhai Mardana! Repeat the Name of God, the Almighty; and drink the water to your heart's desire.".the guru removed aside a nearby big rock, a pure water fountain arose and begans to flow endlessly. Bhai Mardana wretched his thirst and felt grateful to the Guru.On the other hand, the fountain of Shah Wali Qandhari died up.observing this, the Wali threw a part of a mountain towards the Guru from the top of the hill. The Guru stopped the rock by his hand leaving his hands print on it.on watching the miracle,wali becames guru's admirer.

Gurdwara Punja Sahib was established by Hari Singh Nalwa in 1830.
