Central Park is the 843-acre masterpiece of landscape architecture designed in the 19th century by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux and designated New York City’s first scenic landmark in 1974.

The mission of the Central Park Conservancy, a private, not-for profit organization founded in 1980, is to restore, manage and enhance Central Park in partnership with the public, for the enjoyment of all. The Conservancy provides the majority of Central Park's $57 million park-wide expense budget and is responsible for all basic care of the Park.
